The Centre for Molecular Biology and Medicine is supported by an internationally recognized group of consultants who provide advice, guidance and assistance to the Centre in its research programs and objectives.

 

Professor Edward Byrne, Professor of Medicine, University of Melbourne

Professor Byrne MB, BS, MD, DSc, FRACP, Director of the Clinical Neuroscience Centre at St Vincent's Hospital (University of Melbourne) has research interests in mitochondrial diseases of the nervous system.

 

Professor Brian Clark, Professor of Biochemistry, University of Aarhus, Denmark

Professor Clark, President of the international scientific society the International Union of Biochemistry and Molecular Biology, has a wide variety of research interests including protein synthesis and functional foods.

 

Professor Fred Crane , Emeritus Professor of Biochemistry, Purdue University, USA

Professor Crane, the discoverer of Coenzyme Q10, is a world renowned authority on its properties and functions.

 

Professor Colin I. Johnston AO, Professor of Medicine, University of Melbourne

Professor Johnston, AO, MBBS, FRAP is Professor of Medicine at the University of Melbourne (Austin & Repatriation Medical Centre) with interests in cardiovascular clinical research.

 

Professor Phillip Nagley, Professor of Biochemistry and Molecular Biology, Monash University

Professor Nagley, PhD, DSc is a Professor of Biochemistry and Molecular Biology at Monash University with research interests in mitochondrial genetics and function.

A portion of the ageing program is assisted by a Research Advisory Board, which is sponsored by ATTORI (the Australian Tea Tree Oil Research Institute), with the purpose of guiding targeted research on the assessment and amelioration of age-related declines in bioenergy.  Included in this Advisory Board are Professor Edward Byrne, MB, BS, MD, DSc, FRACP, Professor Colin I. Johnston, AO, MBBS, FRAP and Professor Phillip Nagley, PhD, DSc.
